Pizza Hut has split from its advertising agency Wieden+Kennedy as the fast food chain gears up for a major relaunch at the end of the year. The parting, by mutual consent, comes three years after Wieden+Kennedy won the account, which is estimated to have an annual marketing spend of £13m. Pizza Hut will conduct the search for its new advertising agency itself. “We are focussed on a major brand relaunch at the end of 2008 and are very excited about working with a new agency that can deliver on

FBI behind on the phone bill

Mar 6, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized

hmmmm. I'm sure nobody here has ever been a little late paying the phone bill, but evidently the FBI has a problem. The phone companies have disconnected some of their wiretaps. FBI Assistant Director Jim Miller has a good line. I think I'll use it next time I need to postpone a payment: the FBI "will not tolerate financial mismanagement" has a nice ring, don't you think? If the phone company calls me up, I'll shout "What!?!?!!? This is INTOLERABLE!. We will not tolerate financial mismanagem

Gore to the rescue!

Mar 6, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized

It looks as if Al Gore is the only one who can save the Democrat party at this point, according to the New York Post. That leaves Al Gore as the only person with the experience to answer the red phone and force a peaceful end to this civil war. The inconvenient truth is that the red phone is now ringing and Al Gore hears it. The only question is whether he has the guts to pick it up. I’m going out on a limb here and I’m going to agree with John Derbyshire of National Review that Al Gore wi

The iPhone will be available in Asia sometime in the earlier half of this year (although nobody seems to know exactly when yet), and while Apple's been dragging its feet over bringing the phone here, some enterprising Chinese company has already come up with another clone, the HiPhone (not to be confused with the Meizu Minione), and from what we hear so far, it's not too bad for a clone! In fact, this German geek was so impressed by the phone he decided to do a four-part video review of it to

Twenty-three percent (58 million) of all U.S. mobile subscribers say they have been exposed to advertising on their phones in the past 30 days, according to a new report out today from The Nielsen Company. Half (51% or 28 million) of all data users who recall seeing mobile advertising in the previous 30 days say they responded to a mobile ad in some way.

Americans have become more dependent on their cell phones than conventional phones. For the first time, they say they would have more trouble giving up a cell phone than a traditional phone, the Pew Internet and American Life Project said in a report. Less than two years earlier, respondents still considered their landlines the most crucial technology.

According to Pew, the cell phone is the technological tool its users would have most difficulty giving up, followed by the Internet and television. Landline phones ranked fourth in the latest survey, just above email.

"People's growing reliance on their cell phones, together with wireless internet access from laptops, suggests a shift in expectations about cyberspace," said John Horrigan, Associate Director of the Pew Internet Project. "For many people, access to digital information and resources is an 'always present' utility for answering questions and documenting what is going on around them through photos or video recording."

The new survey found that some 62 percent of adult Americans have taken advantage of mobile access to digital data and tools, including:

- 58 percent have used a cell phone to do at least one of ten mobile non-voice data activities, such as texting, emailing, taking a picture, looking for ...

I'm sure by now everyone has seen proof of or joined in on the craze over the Croc shoes. I have only once been tempted to buy the rubber garden shoes, and that was because they looked like ballet slippers. Luckily I was broke so I will never have the shame of having owned a pair of garden shoes, because that’s exactly what they are. Well if you are grumbling over my distaste with the Crocs, then you might be happy to know that Crocs are coming out with a cellphone case.

Levi's Launches Denim-Inspired Cell Phone Photo 1

Levi's today unveiled The Original, a classic monoblock cell phone. The front and back panels and keypad are made of high-quality steel, while the top is manufactured from soft plastic to be pleasant against the speaker's ear.

A diagonal pattern on the front and back ensures The Original doesn't slip out from hands, while 12 miniature steel bolts along the perimeter are reminiscent of rivets on jean pockets. On the bottom, a twisted in-steel bolt is the binding for the chain (included in the package).

All the steel doesn't influence its weight, measuring just 96 x 55 x 11 mm and weighing only 98 g. A high-quality 262K-color TFT display measures 1.76-inches with a resolution of 220 x 176 px.

Levi's The Original is also equipped with a 2.0-megapixel camera with multi-shoot and autotimer, capable of snapping photos up to 1600 x 1200 px in size. The Original shoots video in two formats: MPEG4 and 3GP (H.263).

With a 780 mAh Li-Ion battery, consumers have enough for 3.5 hours of talk time or 200 hours of standby. ...

How To Make RingtonesOk, so you want to know how to make your own ringtones - well, it’s actually not that difficult to do with the right software. There are a lot of sites claiming to show you how to make your own ringtones for free, but I’ve found most of them to be bogus or at best, pretty useless. To get the good ringtone software, there’s a good chance you’ll have to purchase it.

I’ve found two good software applications that will work to make your own ringtones. The first one is Xingtones.com, they charge a one time fee of $19.99 and then you’ll be able to create as many ringtones as you want from your collection of MP3’s or CD’s. The second one works the same way. It’s called “Make Your Own Ringtones 3.2″, and it’s available from Download.com for $14.99. Also, they give you a free trial to test it out first.

Now, these are just two choices for you (I’m sure there’s more good software out there), but at least it will get you started. Both of these applications can be purchased for a one-time fee and then used unlimited amount of times. All you have to do is ...

Sierra Wireless Compass 597 USB ModemThe Sierra Wireless Compass 597 EV-DO USB modem was announced today. The Sierra Wireless Compass 597 should be available in Q2 2008, but no word on pricing yet. With the new modem you should be able to reach download speeds of up to 3.1Mbps and upload speeds of up to 1.8Mbps. That’s not so bad, and also it will have a built-in GPS antenna.

The Sierra Wireless Compass 597 EV-DO USB modem will work with Rev. A networks, include a microSD slot & even includes a connector for an external antenna. Plus, it’s very small so that adds to the value a bit. All in all, it looks like a decent USB modem - let’s just hope the price isn’t too high.

"Walter Mondale has seen the light at the end of the tunnel - and it's out." -Dan Rather, CBS Evening News, election night, November 6, 1984 As Senator Hillary Clinton took the stage in Ohio, aglow in the victories that came about from her Red Phone ads and negative tactics, everyone over the age of 25 should have felt a chilling reminder of a similar night in 1984, after a bruising primary race, when another equivocating, derisive and "experienced" Democratic Party machine candidate used sla

Foreclosure 101

In light of all the forecolsue situations buzzing around more and more each month, I figured I'd research the topic. Q. What is a foreclosure? :crack: A. When a secured creditor, usually a bank, attempts to recover monies owed to them based on a promissory note by selling the collateral. In more simple terms you have probably borrowed money from a bank or mortgage company in order to purchase or refinance a home. In exchange for lending you the money, you made a promise that if you could

FBI head: Give telcos immunity even if they acted in bad faith 03/05/2008 @ 12:40 pm Filed by Nick Juliano At the heart of President Bush's plea to give telecommunications companies legal immunity is the contention that these companies were merely being patriotic corporate citizens when they facilitated the warrantless wiretapping of Americans. What if someone with several seems suspicious?"[PDF]. Naturally, parodies have sprung up. Here's my favorite (and a favorite of Cory D

MxTube is a fantastic new native application for jailbroken iPhones. If you're one of the lucky few with a jailbroken handset and the installer app, you'll find MxTube in the recent packages section as of last night. The app is fairly similar to the iPhone's native YouTube video viewer with the added benefit of being able to download entire clips and save them to your phone's memory for offline viewing.

Downloaded videos don't show up to those in your regular video library, and won't sync up into iTunes the next time you plug in your phone, but they can be deleted one at a time just like regular video files in case you start running short on space.

The app has a search tool that lets you hunt for videos, and each one has the option to download the higher or lower quality version in case you feel like trying to save space. Downloads can be stacked up, although in its current release, having more than one video in the download queue seems to crash it.

Speaking of crashes, the app is has a handful of bugs that make it a little volatile, including one ...
