The Sprint Sanyo Katana LX recently passed through the FCC. The Sanyo Katana LX is scheduled to debut on the Sprint network in mid-April and will replace the Katana II. Some of the features the handset will include are: Bluetooth, VGA camera & a slim form factor.
The Sanyo Katana LX is expected to be a low to mid-range phone with not much more than the basics. We are not even seeing an external display on the FCC images, but hopefully the real phone will have one. If it’s the successor to the Katana II, we’d sure think the Sanyo Katana LX would be better than the older model, right? Well, let’s hope so!

Guitar Hero Mobile recently became available for AT&T users. The AT&T Guitar Hero Mobile game is certainly a fun, but if you’re accustomed to playing on the big screen - this will be a different sort of experience. Verizon users actually got the game back in December, so I wonder how long it will take for Guitar Hero Mobile to spread to all carriers?
Also, AT&T Guitar Hero Mobile users will have the April song pack available, which will include: “Crazy On You” by Heart, “Laid to Rest” by Lamb of God, and “Hush” by Deep Purple.

Rumor has it that Sprint may be selling Nextel in the near future. Sprint has really been suffering ever since the merger with Nextel, but it’s questionable whether selling Nextel will cure their woes completely. Another rumor that’s been floating around is that T-Mobile is looking into buying Sprint-Nextel and trying to revive the company.
Hopefully Sprint (and Nextel) will sort out their problems and head back on the road to recovery. It may take the sale of Nextel or an even bigger take-over by T-Mobile, but most likely something quite substantial will happen in the very near future.

REVIEW: Altec Brings the Boom to iPhone Music Without the Buzz of GSM Posted on Monday, March 10, 2008 at 13:29 by Sven Rafferty File under: Accessories, Audio, Review One of the first things I had hoped to see come the iPhone accessory line was a boombox. It mattered not to me, just as long as something would play the music from my iPhone while avoiding any artifacts from the GSM phone radio in the iPhone. China’s manufacturing machine produced 594.4 million phones in 2007. The amount of unlicensed phones (46.4 million) is also a staggering number. Local consumption is an awesome 180.7 million units, a big slice of this going to handset giant Nokia.
In the first half of the year alone, 234 million GSM phones were produced and 32.8 million CDMA phones, making the dominance of GSM quite obvious.
These numbers give one an idea of the world handset market. China is the biggest manufacturer of cellphones and also the world’s biggest market.

Burning cellphones is definitely not a good way of getting back at your husband. But..that is exactly what one 37-year-old woman did to her husband (who just recently left her) at the shop they owned in Shandong China. Luckily the shop’s stock only consisted of 400 handsets and not a lot more. Imagine the hazardous chemicals 400 burnt cellphones released in the air.
The cellphones were valued at 300,000 yuan or about $42,000 US. That’s a little over $100 per handset, which is the second most shocking news of the event. They sell cheap cellphones in China but then again insurance does not exactly cover arson either.
