Apple made two important announcements yesterday regarding music on the iPhone: one was iTunes going DRM-free; the other was the ability to download music tracks straight on to your iPhone over 3G.
We tested downloading tracks to an iPhone over a 3G connection last night and found you can download a single track in around a minute or a full album in about 10 minutes. The service works well, but there are a few issues.
The first issue is that you can only download tracks if you have an Edge or 3G connection: GPRS won't work. The second thing, discovered by our music guru Nate Lanxon, is that you can't download tracks that are over 10MB.

SanDisk today announced that it will launch 16GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro (M2) mobile memory cards in January.
The SanDisk Mobile Ultra cards offer fast side-loading speeds. Users will experience faster transfer rates to and from the memory card and computer. Cards are bundled with a MobileMate Micro Reader that plugs directly into a USB 2.0-compatible port.
The microSDHC cards are ideal for newer mobile phones and the Memory Stick Micro (M2) cards are designed for Sony Ericsson's new generation of mobile phones.
"As consumers listen to music, view photos, take and watch videos on their phones, the need for high-capacity removable mobile phone memory cards that can quickly transfer these files increases," said Diana Cartwright, Senior Director of SanDisk. "Our new 16GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra microSDHC and M2 cards include a MobileMate Micro reader for fast side-loading, offering the most convenient means for people to store, move and play digital content to and from their mobile phones."
