Toshiba has launched three Centrino-based laptops Satellite A300 Black Label II, Satellite A300 and Portege M800 in Korea market.

The 15.4-inch Toshiba Satellite A300 Black Label II features the latest Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 processor (2.53GHz), 2 GB DDR2 SDRAM 800, ATI Radeon HD3650 graphics chips, and 320 GB hard drive double (160 Go Go +160) . It also supports wireless LAN, DVD-Super Multi Drive and Bluetooth connectivity.

With white pearl, the 13.3-inch Toshiba Portege M800 is powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processor P8400 (2.26GHz), 2 GB of DDR2 800 SDRAM memory, Intel HD X4500 graphics chips, and 250 GB hard drive. It is equipped with 9-to-1 multi-card reader, DVD-Super Multi Drive, Bluetooth and wireless LAN.

Suggested retail price is 1790000 (KRW) for Satellite A300 Black Label II, 1490000 (KRW) for Satellite A300, and 1590000 (KRW) for Portege M800.

Toshiba announced that it has undertaken a thorough review of its overall strategy for HD DVD and has decided it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders. Toshiba will begin to reduce shipments of HD DVD players and recorders to retail channels, aiming for cessation of these businesses by the end of March 2008.

HD DVD was developed to offer consumers access at an affordable price to high-quality, high definition content and prepare them for the digital convergence of tomorrow where the fusion of consumer electronics and IT will continue to progress.

This decision has been made following recent major changes in the market. Toshiba will continue, however, to provide full product support and after-sales service for all owners of Toshiba HD DVD products. Toshiba also plans to end volume production of HD DVD disk drives for such applications as PCs and games in the same timeframe.


We had the chance to shoot some photo of Toshiba's Portege G710 Windows Mobile powered smartphone. Sporting quad-band GSM for worldwide connectivity and a full QWERTY keyboard, the G710 aims to keep users working quickly and comfortably while on the go.

Portege G450

The Portege G450 is the newest cellular release from Toshiba. The phone, which looks more like a remote control for a massage chair, is an MP3 player, but also packages an OLED screen, a USB port, and about 160 MB for memory in its tiny frame. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it has HSDPA which allows for a speedy internet-ready connection. The super chic but somewhat masculine design is sure to appeal to both men and women who don’t want to carry around a bulky phone. But who still carries a bulky phone anyway?

Toshiba UK today also announced the G450, a unique four-in-one innovative mobile device designed to enable anyone to connect a laptop to the internet using a HSDPA mobile network. As well as providing instant high speed mobile broadband access, the G450 is a mobile phone for voice calls and texting, a USB data storage device and an MP3 player. It will be available across Europe in the first quarter of 2008.
