Almost every U.S. T-Mobile customer wants to know when the carrier will be activating its 3G network. After all, it is the only major carrier in the United States not to offer 3G. Though it has slowly begun introducing 3G-capable handsets, the carrier has remained maddeningly vague on when ...

(Credit: Samsung)At trade shows such as the GSMA World Congress, Samsung has a tendency to beat us over the head with new cell phones. At the 2008 event, Samsung didn't let us down. The company showed off almost more than 20 handsets, many of which are ...
A Samsung Android cell phone by 2009? Well, that’s what Samsung now claims. Actually, they have been a member of the Google Android Open Handset Alliance for a while now, so it may not be all that surprising.
Samsung is known to crank out phones in a hurry, so we may actually see a Samsung Android cell phone before then. Also, the company already loads a lot of their handsets with Google functionality out of the box, so it’s not a far stretch to just have an Android-based handset. I hope we see it soon!

The G810 looks to be a top of the line phone modeled in direct competition with the Nokia N95. There are actually only a handful of differences between the two feature-wise. The new G810 has just a few new features that the N95 didn’t, and it’s smaller! The GSM phone will offer a 2.6″ 262K Color display, GPS navigation, Wireless 802.11b/g connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and speedy 3.6 Mbps HSDPA. The G810 also sports a 1200 mAh battery which is reported to have significantly longer life than that of the N95.

The T-Mobile Samsung T639 was only available in exclusive areas up until now, mainly because it’s one of T-Mobile’s “first handsets to support UMTS on the 1700MHz AWS band, the carrier’s unique flavor of 3G that has run into its fair share of hiccups on the long road to national availability.”

InfoSync reviews the Helio Samsung Heat: “The Helio Samsung Heat is better in some areas, and in other ways cannot measure up to the Drift. Video performance, with full screen landscape mode, is a bit better, though we miss stereo Bluetooth support on videos. We also liked the music store as well, which is new since our review of the Drift, though is also available now on that phone. The Helio Samsung Heat is also smaller than the Drift, though the latter phone was not large by any stretch. Unfortunately, the touch-sensitive buttons on the Helio Samsung Heat are truly a failure of design. In the few days we’ve had the phone, we’ve rarely had success using the buttons. They almost never registered our taps the first time, though they often activated when we brushed them accidentally. They locked too quickly when we needed them, to make 3-way calls, for instance, or using them as music keys. If the Helio Samsung Heat had the normal buttons found on the Drift, it would be the better phone, but we can’t recommend it considering the problems we had with the buttons.”

The Samsung Soul is latest in the Ultra line of handsets. It doesn’t look like it but Soul (Spirit of Ultra) marks the end of the Samsung Ultra Phones. This came as a surprise to this blogger because I’ve always imagined the Ultra line as an indirect rival of the Nseries phone and I assumed Samsung was just starting.
The Soul reminds me of the Nokia 6500 Slider, with the similar brushed metal exterior and a form factor that is unmistakably fashionable. The look understates what this phone is capable of: 5 MP camera, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, and an innovtion called Magical Touch by DaCP where the keypad indicators change according to the users needs.
The Soul will be formally announced at the Mobile World Congress.

Samsung Soul Launched | Add your Comments
The Samsung Soul was announced today. The Samsung Soul will be shown off officially in Barcelona at the MWC event. It’s a very sleek, good looking handset. The new phone actually has a striking resemblance to the LG Shine, plus a touch D-pad of course. It’ll be exciting if we can just get this one over here in North America!
PhoneArena has more on the Samsung Soul: “The innovations here start with the 5-megapixel camera added on the back of the phone. It has auto focus and face detection. We note the presence of a touch D-pad, instead of a regular one. Soul adapts to its owner and by using the phone’s “Magical Touch” technology, the navigation indicators on the pad change, according to the current mode, preferred by the user. For example if you are browsing the web, icons used to navigate through Internet pages will appear. When the radio is turned on, the tuning buttons will appear etc. The Samsung Soul offers three graphic interface options for the users, allowing them to create their own skins also. It is a quad-band/HSDPA 7.2Mbps, with a microSD slot and support for mobile blogging / RSS reader.”

The navigation panel's icons change according to function.
For example, when in music mode, music related icons will light up on the navigation indicators. When in camera mode, camera related icons such as zoom and brightness icons will appear.
