Samsung Ace Review - PhoneArena

Mar 20, 2008 Filed under: Samsung

Samsung AcePhoneArena reviews the Samsung Ace: “The Samsung Ace is a very strong entry from Sprint, but the exclusion of Office Mobile is very curious and it loses some points for the keyboard design. Other than that the Ace stacks up well with other Windows Mobile 6 Standard devices. Being a world phone is a major bonus, with even more points for an unlocked SIM slot. As we have come to expect from Samsung the build quality is top notch. While we did not care for the keyboard, those with small hands and fingers may appreciate the narrowness. For those looking for a Windows Mobile world phone the Samsung Ace is a good bet, though we don’t expect it will steal many sales from the BlackBerry 8830.”

Featured in the most recent Springwise newsletter is the miCoach, an Adidas-branded Samsung music phone. On the surface it looks like your typical slider, but inside the miCoach you’ll find a load of personal training goodies for the fitness crowd.

With one click, users can connect to the fitness features and begin a workout. On their first use, the system assesses their fitness level and places them in one of three categories. Users can then set their own goals, or let the system’s personal coach—backed by more than 200 workout plans—guide them. Either way, miCoach provides instruction to encourage and motivate users along the way, such as advising runners to “speed up to power zone” or telling them that “15 minutes is completed.”

Tapping the slider phone twice produces instant updates on the workout, and the 2-inch LCD shows a real-time visual display of time, heart rate, distance, speed and calories burned. Users can arrange workout music on the phone according to tempo or motivational value, while a 2-megapixel camera and 1GB memory capacity let them capture their workout milestones.

Normally I wouldn’t go for this kind of stuff but I must admit, the miCoach looks pretty darn cool. ...

Samsung SCH-U550 Review

Mar 17, 2008 Filed under: Samsung

The Samsung U550 for Verizon Wireless is a modest upgrade to the U540 and is targeted to consumers that are looking for an entry-level flip phone with good voice quality, instead of high-end features, while maintaining a low price. Its main competition is the LG VX8350, which we reviewed last year (insert review link), since both have similar features and are in the same price range. Samsung A436

Mar 15, 2008 Filed under: Samsung

Samsung A436The Samsung A436 is a basic little flip phone. The Samsung A436 is available in the US with SunCom and features: a nice small flip design, Bluetooth, .3 megapixel camera, speakerphone & has text and picture messaging capabilities. Also, the Samsung A436 runs on GSM networks and EDGE data network. Of course, with a bit of cash you can download polyphonic ringtones as well.

So, while the Samsung A436 is nothing spectacular, it is very cheap. Currently, the handset is available for $9.99 after 2 year agreement.

Silver Verizon Samsung Alias

Mar 14, 2008 Filed under: Samsung

Verizon Samsung AliasThe Silver Verizon Samsung Alias will soon be available. The silver colored Verizon Samsung Alias is expected to be released in Q2, 2008. Yes, the photo at left is of the current black version, no image of the silver version is available. Verizon recently renamed the handset after it had been out for quite a while. We’re not quite sure why they did this, but it did create a lot of buzz about the handset though.

The Silver Verizon Samsung Alias will not have any additional features, just a color change. As a reminder though, here are it’s main selling points: 1.3 megapixel camera, MicroSD card, mobile web 2.0, speakerphone, V Cast Music / Video & a multi-flip screen that reveals a Qwerty keyboard. The silver Verizon Samsung Alias is expected to be $79.99, the same as the original, after rebates and 2 year agreement.
