Reviews on the latest and best mobile phones on the market.
Two different Chinese manufacturers has just announced two high-megapixel convergeance devices for the discriminating holiday shopper on the cheap.
Lensas has the F2218 camphone, which boasts an 8 megapixel lens that takes 3264×2448-pixel photographs. It records videos as well. The F2218 is solidly designed and coated in gold paint. The back cover of the phone slides down to reveal the lens and the Xenon flash. Lensas has built the user interface of the phone around its camera feature so the camera capabilities are well-supported by the software. Lensas hasn’t slapped a price or date of availability yet on the F2218 but expect to get one for a bargain.
The Newman-Hyun L1200 has an even more impressive 12 megapixel camera, located on one side of the phone. The camera can swivel up to 180 degrees and includes a flash as well. The L1200 is not a phone but it plays MP3 and MP4 files and can also be used to read e-Books and tune in to FM stations. For a 12 megapixel camera plus a media player, the L1200 is too cheap at only $132.
