Reviews on the latest and best mobile phones on the market.
The T-Mobile Palm Centro is rumored to be available soon. The T-Mobile Palm Centro would make sense seeing as Sprint has seen brisk sales of the handset and now their exclusivity deal with Palm is coming to an end. AT&T has also been rumored to be getting the Palm Centro, so maybe we’ll see all three of the major carriers getting this great handset.
If the T-Mobile Palm Centro turns out to be true, you can bet it’ll be a huge hit, as was Sprint’s version. The handset is cheap, small and feature-packed.

The Sprint Palm Treo 800w has been in the pipes for quite some time now, but we’re slowly getting more and more info about it. Apparently, a tipster leaked more info about the Sprint Palm Treo 800w’s specs and even took a grainy photo of the handset (at left).
EngadgetMobile has more on the Sprint Palm Treo 800w: “the new Windows Mobile 6-based Palm phone will be Centro-thin, trade the old proprietary HotSync connector for a mini-USB jack, has a dedicated hardware switch for turning WiFi on and off, will sport EV-DO Rev. A, Bluetooth 2.0, as well as 802.11g, and utilizes microSD cards in addition to its 256MB of memory. The article also says that the 2-megapixel camera takes “decent” pictures, and there is an additional 128MB of memory for something else.”

You can now get Google’s My Location functionality for your Palm Treo 600, 650 or 680 handset (GSM Treos). The Palm Treo My Location app download is free, but ad driven.
EngadgetMobile has more: “Piggybacking on top of the Google Maps app, My Location performs the same feats of mystery, intrigue, and cell tower triangulation that most other platforms are already enjoying and there’s no need to wait for Palm to get it in a pile to do so. The Google My Location program is free but ad driven, so if you want to do away with the location-based adds, you’ll need to cough up $10 or more to end your suffering.”

The AT&T Palm Centro pictured at left looks pretty legit. For now, the AT&T Palm Centro is still a rumor and this picture could be PhotoShopped, however, Sprint’s exclusivity agreement with the Centro is about to end, making this photo very likely to be the real deal.
The AT&T Palm Centro is expected to be almost identical in features to the Sprint version, including: Palm’s OS and will have touch-display. Its QWERTY is reported to be as good as those of Treos. The Palm Centro features 1.3-megapixel camera, supports EV-DO.
PalmInfo reviews the Verizon Palm Treo 755p: “The Verizon Palm Treo 755p offers very little new in terms of technology and design, yet it remains one the most powerful and easy to use smartphones available. The Palm Treo 755p is a nice minor update from the 700p, but as a power user I wish more had been done to improve the software and overall user experience. Nevertheless, the Verizon Palm Treo 755p is a good choice for people looking for a productive mobile device, as it continues to offer Palms blend of an excellent user experience with the ease of use and software choice the Palm OS platform provides.”

A Pink Palm Centro (Sprint) is rumored to be in the works. SprintUsers forum member TheRobin recently posted the pretty Pink Palm Centro picture on the site. Sure, we’ve already got the red version, but the new color may turn out to be as big of hit as the original.
The Pink Palm Centro for Sprint has been rumored in the past, and is supposed to be available on January or February of 2008. I guess if these rumors turn out to be false, we’ll know pretty soon.

A report from Strategy Analytics Wireless Device Lab suggests that the Samsung i760, one of this guy’s top ten ugliest smartphones, is one of the most appealing innovative design in the cellphone industry. The report titled “Design Labs USA: Palm Centro & Samsung i760 Most Appealing Innovative Designs” puts the Palm Centro on top of the list based on consumer reaction. Among the top five are two Windows Mobile phones, the Samsung i760 and the Pantech C810.
It was the new Palm Centro, however, which got the most oohs and ahhs. The phones tested are all pre-launched or newly launched handsets. The market was divided into groups: “Style Seeker”, “High Data”, “Multifunction”, “Voice + Music”, “Voice + PIM”, etc. The LG Rumor scored well on “Multifuntion” and “Voice + PIM” and got positive scores as well wth “Style Seekers and :High data” markets. Meanwhile, the Nokia Prism, the fifth device, is voted most “feminine.”
Cnet reviews the Sprint Palm Centro: “The Sprint Palm Centro costs $99 with a two-year contract, which is a bargain for a smartphone, especially when you consider that you get all the features of a Treo and more. The Sprint Palm Centro offers ease of use, so first-time smartphone buyers shouldn’t be intimidated, and it also provides a nice middle ground between the really basic and youth-oriented T-Mobile Sidekick 3 and more business-featured devices like the Sprint Mogul. The Sprint Palm Centro certainly isn’t without problems. There are some major design issues; it’s not the best choice for serious business users, and it certainly wasn’t the type of innovation we were hoping for from the company.
The good: The Sprint Palm Centro sheds some of the weight and bulk of Palm Treo to make for a more compact smartphone. It also carries an attractive price tag and offers a lot for the money, including Bluetooth, EV-DO support, push e-mail, and a suite of productivity apps.
The bad: The Centro’s QWERTY keyboard is extremely cramped and the hardware feels a bit toylike. The phone’s speaker is on the weaker side, and it lacks Wi-Fi.
The bottom line: The Sprint Palm Centro isn’t ...

Palm Treo 750 is now sold unlocked and with Windows Mobile 6. The new unlocked version of the Palm Treo 750 will give consumers the opportunity to take their phone with them around the world, and not have any attachment to a specific carrier.
EngadgetMobile has more: “Palm’s now selling its co-flagship Palm Treo 750 with Windows Mobile 6 direct and unlocked for $549. The GSM world phone can of course do the 3G thing in the US and Europe, so it’s ideal the jet set type willing to deal with the Treo bulk, but other than the unlock it’s the same old Treo, so we’re sure you’ve already decided whether this one’s right for you. The phone is available at Palm’s online and retail stores.”
