O2 XDA Orbit 2 review

Mar 18, 2008 Filed under: O2

With my recent travels I've been a bit slack on blogging about the XDA Orbit 2 that O2 (via VCCP) kindly sent to me recently. A few of my blogger friends are also on this seeding program and have reviewed in depth so I thought I would take a slightly different view than give you an in depth technical assessment. Besides, when it comes to the software I'm biased :) For informed views from others, check out reviews from the likes of Being Lucy Diamond, Blog Til You Drop, Darren Straight, Keit

The XDA Orbit 2 is O2's version of the HTC Cruise and from the little time we've spent with it, we think it's out of this world (Haha! Ha. No?).Combining aspects from the HTC Touch and HTC P3300 -- aka the original XDA Orbit -- the Orbit 2 offers email, high-speed Internet on the go and GPS with CoPilot 7 navigation software.

iPhone Ireland is Official

Feb 29, 2008 Filed under: O2

Ireland iPhoneO2 just got the nod from Apple to distribute the iPhone in Ireland beginning March 12. It remains to see whether the iPhone will be receive the same hyped-up reception that U.S. iPhone did. To tell the truth, iPhone Europe was pretty lackluster and the Irish are not exactly known to be big spenders on tech.

This is waht O2 will be offering iPhone subscribers: 8GB model for €399 (US$600) and a 16GB model for €499 (US$750). Subscribers could buy their iPhones from Carphone Warehouse or O2 stores. More on the O2 Orbit 2 and CoPilot

Feb 22, 2008 Filed under: O2

I have had the Xda Orbit 2 for a few days now and have used it for car navigation. I am not going to review the phone or list the specifications - other sites have already done this. Instead, here are some more thoughts… I find the touch screen slightly insensitive. You have to press hard compared to most PPCs I have used. CoPilot works very well and is an able replacement for my stand-alone TomTom. The only quirk is that when you go the wrong way it nearly always tries to take you back the

Better all round as the iPhone contracts surprisingly become some of the best value on the market.

Today O2 announced it's introducing a new pricing structure across the network, which will see six new, apparently simpler, tariffs and free voicemail made available to all existing and new customers from 1 February. This tariff restructuring will also affect the current iPhone tariffs, giving existing users on the cheapest £35 per month contract three times more minutes (600) and double the number of texts (400).

O2 Broadband: Review - summary

Jan 27, 2008 Filed under: O2

As I mentioned when I joined IntoMobile, occasionally I will be writing commentary or editorial on various areas within Mobile. Today it’s the turn of O2, with their Broadband offering - yes, those tentative steps towards convergence are occurring apace within the industry (as you might or might not know, O2 bought Be - an ADSL2+ Broadband provider). I actually ordered O2 Broadband about 2 weeks before Christmas - the idea being that whilst I was off from work (and having a baby!), that it w

O2 XDA Stellar: O2 takes on the TyTN II

Dec 12, 2007 Filed under: O2

Given HTC's ability to pump out quality Windows Mobile devices, it's no surprise that all the networks wanted to get their hands on the smashing HTC TyTN II. O2 is the latest, and has branded it up with a subtle small white logo and a blue wallpaper on the start page. Very tasteful. All the features are there, including GPS, Wi-Fi and HSDPA (3.5G).
