Black Nokia N82

Feb 7, 2008 Filed under: Nokia

Black Nokia N82The Black Nokia N82 is now on sale. The new black version of the Nokia N82 is sleek looking and will be a big hit. Of course, if you prefer, there is always the original silver housing for the phone. Nothing changes feature-wise for the new version.

As a reminder, here’s a partial list of features you’ll find on the Black Nokia N82: it runs on Symbian with the third edition of the S60 interface and features a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics, built-in GPS, quad band radio and WiFi.

To start with, it is stylishly streamlined and for those handset users for whom looks matters they will like what they see when they lay their eyes on the Nokia model 6555. The show formerly known as 3GSM is now called the Mobile World Congress. Apart from the name change, however, little else appears to be changing. The event is still in Barcelona, and as was the case with past 3GSM shows, we still expect to see a lot of new handsets being launched. The show technically starts on Monday the 11th of February, but the show's new device onslaught will kick off the night before at the Sony Ericsson press party.

We don't know exactly what to expect this year, but we are convinced that the show will be much bigger than CES was when it comes to new devices. LG has already shown one of its planned releases for next week, and Motorola has also been hinting at a new multimedia device (likely another UIQ based Symbian handset). That Motorola device could well tie into the new Kodak 5 megapixel sensor we wrote about recently, too. Samsung is rumored to be launching a new high-end cameraphone, and we expect some news from Nokia as well.

In addition to the new cell phones and smartphones from Nokia, though, we are really looking forward to seeing demos of ...

Nokia N95 8GB NAM Specs, Photo

Jan 31, 2008 Filed under: Nokia

Nokia N95 8GB NAMSome new Nokia N95 8GB NAM specs and photos have been flying around the web lately. At left is a picture of the Nokia N95 8GB NAM from the FCC’s website - they just gave it the ok! The “NAM” basically stands for North American model of the phone. We’re not sure if any carrier will pick this one up, but at least you should be able to get it unlocked in the near future for $750-$800. Actually a couple online stores are taking pre-orders for the Nokia N95 8GB NAM now.

BGR has more on the features / specs: “the upcoming Nokia N95 8GB NAM version sports 850/1900 MHz HSDPA and is compatible with AT&T’s high-speed 3G and 3.5G networks. Cave dwellers somehow unaware of the Nokia N95 8GB’s specs will be pleased to learn that 8GB of internal storage, a 5 megapixel camera with Zeiss optics, 30 fps DVD-quality video recording, internal GPS and the kitchen sink are among this new North American verison’s key features.”

Nokia N95 8GB With US 3G Passes FCC

Jan 31, 2008 Filed under: Nokia

Nokia N95 8GB US 3GThe Nokia N95 8GB with US 3G has just been OK’d by the FCC. This means that Nokia’s last hurdle to selling the device in the USA is now over. The Nokia N95 8GB with US 3G is basically the same unlocked handset that the company sells in other parts of the world, gaining of course 3G support which some American carriers use.

This could mean that one of the carriers pick up the US variant of the Nokia N95 8GB, which was rumored a few months back. But, if not hopefully they’ll at least be selling the handset unlocked soon.

Facebook to get Special Handset Button

Jan 30, 2008 Filed under: Nokia

Facebook on NokiaNokia and Facebook are talking about putting a special Facebook widget on Nokia phones. Like the YouTube button, the Facebook button will give Nokia users a quick way to access Facebook whenever they are connected to the Net. No details of the “button” are available but sources say Nokia may also buy a stake in Facebook while Facebook logos will be displayed on Nokia displays. It looks like it’s almost a merger between the two companies.

A senior Nokia exec has this to say: “There is talk of a partnership in the works… it’s safe to say we’re testing the waters and things still have to be worked out.”

It’s clear why Facebook would want a partnership with the world’s biggest cellphone manufacturer. With a number of social networking sites old and newly minted competing against it, a partnership with a ubiquitous brand will go a long way in consolidating its market position. To Nokia it can mean an expansion into Web 2.0 and possibly Web 3.0.

Nokia And Facebook Partnership

Nokia - FacebookApparently, Nokia and Facebook are looking to partner up here soon. The deal may be to splash Facebook all over Nokia phones in the near future, or even Nokia buying a stake in the Facebook company.

EngadgetMobile has more: “Nokia and Facebook reps are mulling a potential partnership, and there has even been whispers of dollars changing hands in the process. Apparently, the deal could involve making the Facebook icon a prominent fixture on Nokia handsets and product displays, and while it’s far from confirmed, it could also involve Nokia purchasing a stake in Facebook.”

Nokia 6315i page: . It has a megapixel camera, Bluetooth as well as a handsfree speakerphone mode built-in.

Nokia 5310 XpressMusicMobileBurn reviews the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic: “The Nokia 5310 XpressMusic is an attractive, ultra-slim phone. Although not particularly basic, neither is it hugely feature-rich when compared to other phones on the market. Instead, the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic excels at the task it was designed for - being a very pocketable phone that plays music well. The slim form factor certainly caught the attention of my friends, and I enjoyed using it for the entire two weeks that I tested it.

The camera could have been better, but those who are looking for a superior camera need look no further than the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic’s elder brother, the 5610 - which is in a sliding form factor. The memory card slot offers expandability and the versatility of being able to switch between different music libraries stored upon different microSD cards. The best feature of the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, which isn’t found on the 5610, is the 3.5mm audio jack. To me, that alone makes the 5310 a winner.

With good audio quality and battery life, it’s really quite difficult to fault the Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and we highly recommended it if you’re looking for a mid-ranged music phone which comes in ...
