Reviews on the latest and best mobile phones on the market.
A PhoneScoop user reviews the Motorola W370: “The Motorola W370 (Tracfone, AT&T GoPhone) is nothing short of great. I consider it to be superior to all prepaid cell phones (which I have had plenty of experience with) and almost all of the of the contract phones. It is pretty and simple and has lots of features. If you want a great cell phone the Motorola W370 is the way to go. It is certainly in the same class as the Razr and Krzr and is a lot simpler too. Since it doesn’t have a camera, it should be perfect for parents who want heir kid to have a nice phone but one without a camera (there have incidents that were inappropriate involve camera phones). This is the perfect phone for some one who wants a phone that is simple and advanced.”

A LetsTalk user reviews the Tracfone Motorola V170: “The Tracfone Motorola V170 cell phone is like a pretty face with a bad personality. Don’t judge this book by the cover. The caller often sounds like they are speaking Martian or something. The volume only goes as high as level 7, and it’s hard to determine any volume change from level 3 on up. I would not recommend the Motorola V170, I have been a faithful Tracfone user for years, and this cell phone is going back to Walmart.”

PhoneScoop reviews the Motorola Z6c World Edition: “The Motorola Z6c World Edition comes with a Verizon SIM to use out of the U.S. They are unlocking the phones but do not have the unlock code yet, so I cannot see whether my UK SIM will work.
The Motorola Z6c World Edition feels solid and is quite attractive. The keypad is shiny and a bit reflective making it hard to see in certain conditions. The call quality is very good. The menu system is easy to use and contacts are easy to set up.
The big challenges involved the media card slot and SIM slot. Both are under the battery, so if you want to remove the media card, you have to turn off the phone and remove the back cover and battery.

Cnet reviews the Motorola i335: “The Motorola i335 has everything you’ve come to love in a Nextel cell phone design. The sturdy candy bar model looks like it could take quite a beating, and the interface, while far from flashy, is functional and reliable. But as we mentioned earlier, the Motorola i335 is the first Nextel phone to make a play for the thin handset trend. At 4.7 inches by 1.8 inches by 0.5 inch, it sheds much of the bulk that plagued the carrier’s earlier models though the Motorola i335 remains slightly heavy at 3.7 ounces. The design succeeds not because it’s fashionable, but rather because it’s simple and practical. Clad in black with a few silver touches, it’s unassuming as well.
The good: The Motorola i335 has a durable, user-friendly design and a decent feature set. It also offers excellent call quality.
The bad: The handset has a dim internal display and the directional keys on the navigation toggle are too thin.
The bottom line: The Motorola i335 isn’t showy or exciting, but it offers superior call quality and the standard Nextel features in an accessible design.”

We’ve told you about Motorola’s plans to partner with Microvision to put projectors in Motorola camera phones. That isn;t going to happen any time soon, but Microvision’s “Pico” ultraportable projector is ready and we’ll soon see how it works during the CES conference a few days from now.
The PicoP is capable of displaying a 12 inches to 100 inches image at 848 x 480 WVGA resolution. The plans to put the technology on cellphones is serious as it promises a bigger market where Microvision’s invention could prove to be very lucrative.

Our friends at FCC are ready to improve the brand new Motorola ROKR E8 candy-bar shaped phone which hasn’t been announced by Motorola nor any carrier in US. Pictures shown are taken from the FCC website. Although the pictures are not clear, we can see that the ROKR E8 phone features a unique flat keypad with illuminated labels that disappear into a glossy black surface when not in use. Besides that, there are four large piezoelectric actuators under the keypad presumably provide some form of haptic feedback.

Other features and specifications of the ROKR E8 include a landscape LCD color display, sliding key lock switch, a micro-USB port, a built-in digital camera, stereo Bluetooth, EDGE data, and a microSD memory card slot located under the battery cover.

The Motorola Rokr E8 is one step closer to being released. Most of the FCC documentation has recently come off confidentiality. The Motorola Rokr E8 is a strange candybar phone, that has disappearing keypad. The FCC’s tests do report GSM 850 and 1900.
EngadgetMobile has more: “We’d be lying if we didn’t say we were pretty amped to get a Motorola Rokr E8 in our hands, and with quadband EDGE on board, there’s at least a fleeting chance that Motorola’s US direct retail channel or a North American GSM carrier will launch it.”

Motorola’s new ROKR music phone has appeared at the FCC site. The E8 is the most unique-looking Motorola phone we’ve seen for a long time, featuring a touchscreen and a unique flat keypad. It’s taking Moto a lot of time to finally release this ROKR, and this is what’s piqued our interest regarding the phone.
The ROKR E8 features an innovative Haptics technology when you’re using the keypad. Landscape mode is supported, but it seems that 3G is lacking and we have no idea about other features like camera and storage. What is apparent is that the phone will probably be available very soon, say Q1 2008?
