Reviews on the latest and best mobile phones on the market.
JP over at MobileinCanada recently discovered a page for the Q9c at Motorola Canada with the text “coming soon to Telus”.
The Motorola Q9c, also known as the Q9m, is already available south of the border on both Sprint and Verizon. A GSM variant of this phone called the Motorola Q9h is currently available with AT&T and with Rogers and Fido in Canada. The phone is an upgrade from the original Q and features Windows Mobile 6, Bluetooth, a miniSD slot, 1.3 megapixel camera and a QWERTY keyboard.
No official announcement yet but expect this to appear on Telus Mobility soon.

March 19, 2008 - Motorola has just released two new products: a wireless LAN switch and an adaptive access point with three radios. These new products will complete the long time in the works All Wireless Office. Although Motorola’s market stats have been slipping recently, this new technology will hopefully help to boost those numbers. With more and more businesses and homes going to wireless networks to increase accessibility and convenience, this may be the change Motorola has been needing to make in order to stay in the game.
PhoneArena reviews the Motorola MOTO U9: “Is the Motorola MOTO U9 worth getting? If you like it, the answer is definitely YES. We are in love with its outer appearance and are with mixed feelings only about the black on the inside. However, it surely looks cool in the grey color variant of the phone, which is for the gentlemen.
Some may worry about the visibility of the external display, the camera quality or the multimedia options, but aside from those, the Motorola MOTO U9 is a great phone, with lots of options and responsible software.”

Verizon Wireless has recently released the new Motorola Z6cx World Edition phone.
This is the same Z6c, only without the 2Mpix camera. Most likely Z6cx was made specifically for those, who are not allowed to bring the camera on work.
Anyway, both models are ava...

No, that's not a typo in the headline, and your eyes aren't playing tricks on you. This concept Motorola phone designed by Paris-based Lysandre Follet packs a stereo camera in the back. We're not talking about the standard configuration found in most camera phones, but ...
Motorola continues to reorganize its top-level staff, with two more executives replaced this week. Motorola has let go its Head of Mobile Devices in Europe, Mike Fenger. He will be replaced by Steven Nolan, VP of sales for Europe. ...

Motorola will do well exploring technologies neglected by other cellphone manufacturers. Their partnership with Micovision seems like a step to the right direction. Now comes this concept from Lysandre Follet who believes stereo camera would work well on a Motorola phone. Remember that before Apple joined the cellphone industry, Motorola was known to produce the definitive fashion phone. Stereo camera by using dual lenses can produce 3D photos. It’s pretty cool. I know I’d buy a camera phone with one if the price is reasonable.

Announced last December 2005 and available for quite some time now, the Motorola A1200 Ming, also known by its nick name as the Motorola Ming is a Linux based smart phone from Motorola. It utilizes the flip design albeit with a transparent cover giving it a very sleek and futuristic edge. Targeted for the business type consumer, it also features a very useful business card reader.
Contrary to the transparent, plastic flip cover though, the Motorola Ming feels rather sturdy and comfortable in the hand. It is a very mobile gadget considering its applications, weighing in at only 122 g and measuring 95.7 x 51.7 x 21.5 mm (height, width and thickness respectively). Compared to other mobile phones it may be quite hefty but keep in mind that (more...)

Looks like long-awaited Motorola Z9 will be launched after all, as it has just been approved by the FCC.
The phone is still not announced, but we hope to see it at CTIA Las Vegas. FCC approval is always a good sign, right?

The Motorola VU30 should be headed to Verizon by Q3, 2008. The Verizon Motorola VU30 is pretty much a PEBL-like handset. Not much is known about the handset, but it’s expected to be higher end than the W315. It’ll most likely be a little more in line with the U6. If so, features may include: dual displays, digital camera w/ video, Bluetooth, GPRS high-speed data, WAP 2.0 Internet browser & Java support.
While we do know a few details of the Verizon Motorola VU30, a lot of this is speculation. So, for now we’ll just call this a rumor.
The Verizon Motorola RIZR Z6cx World Edition is now available. Basically, the Verizon Motorola RIZR Z6cx World Edition is a camera-less version of the Z6c. One great feature of both of these models is that you can use them in other countries. Once users activate the global service, they can use the Motorola RIZR Z6cx (& Z6c) in more than 180 countries; abroad, a minute costs $1.29 or $2.49 (depending on the country) while a text message is $0.25.
As a reminder, here are the main features of the Verizon Motorola RIZR Z6cx World Edition: Stereo Bluetooth, mobile web 2.0, microSD removable memory, V Cast music, Speakerphone, VZ Navigator & of course CDMA / EV-DO & GSM for use abroad. You can buy it now for $179.99 after 2 year agreement.
The FCC recently approved the Motorola Z9, a slider that incorporates some of the design elements seen on the RAZR2 series. The Z9 is a quad-band GSM/EDGE phone with dual-band 850/1900 3G and stereo Bluetooth radios. It has a ...

March 12, 2008 - At the most recent Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, there was not a lot of news from Motorola in the way of new cell phones. Apparently, however, this was not for a lack of information to share. One of Motorola’s VPs stated that the only reason they decided to wait to introduce their new ideas was because they did not want to have to compete with all the information and technology that was being introduced at the Mobile World Congress. Rather than getting lost in the sea of announcements that would be made, they decided to wait and share their new handsets with the rest of the world in April instead. So we will have to wait a few more weeks to see what Motorola has to offer us this time.
Rumors that Motorola will be selling its handset division be gone! Moto just leaked a viral music video on its upcoming handsets and it’s a pretty cool video. The music is “You Only Live Once” by The Strokes. It’s hard to give up on Motorola when it’s trying this hard to be cool again.
Honestly, the handsets featured in the video above are nothing if not familiar. The only unique model is the Motorola camera phone with a 5 megapixel camera that came out with a partnership with Kodak. The phone is sleeker than I have imagined, and this should get Motorola ready for CTIA.

The Boost Mobile Motorola KRZR K1m is now available. The Boost Mobile Motorola KRZR K1m is a pretty little flip phone that will be the “top-of-the-line” handset on Boost’s network. The handset itself has been around for quite some time now, available on other carriers since 2006-07. But hey, better late than never.
A few of the Boost Mobile Motorola KRZR K1m’s stand-out features are:
The Boost Mobile Motorola KRZR K1m is available immediately for $249.99. You can purchase it at any of the carriers retail locations or online.

Motorola Krzr K1m for Boost Mobile
(Credit: Boost Mobile)Boost Mobile is often known for their iDEN/Walkie-talkie phones, as their "Where you at?" ads would suggest. However, the youth-oriented Sprint-Nextel offspring also offers a few non-iDEN phones, and its latest is the Motorola Krzr K1m. The K1m has all ...

Motorola just released a firmware update for the Verizon Motorola Q9m, Verizon Motorola K1m & the T-Mobile Motorola W490. There’s not much information on what exactly this update will accomplish, but surely there’s some goodies in there once you do it, right?
IntoMobile has more: “The Verizon Motorola Q9m firmware update apparently bumps up your Windows Mobile installation from AKU 0.2 to AKU 0.6, and updates the baseband radio to firmware version 03.20.29P. We’re not sure what that means exactly, but there’s bound to be some benefit to the update.
Motorola has also bumped up the firmware version on their Verizon Motorola K1m and T-Mobile Motorola W490. The new firmware version on the Moto K1m is 01.19.08, but we it’s not clear if what version number the new W490 firmware is.”
You can get the new Motorola firmware update here.

The AT&T Motorola W760 Hurricane is a new rugged handset due out in March. The AT&T Motorola W760 Hurricane is different from it’s predecessor, the W365, by gaining WCDMA of some sort, hopefully HSDPA, and a 2 megapixel camera. The phone does keep the stubby antenna of the previous model though.
No word on pricing yet, but it will most certainly be an entry to mid-level handset. The AT&T Motorola W760 Hurricane is one of three phones that AT&T has planned for a March release, the other two are the LG VU and the Sony Ericsson Z750.
On Mobile World Congress, Motorola show interesting handset which is named Motorola Z6w. Last year the ROKR Z6 model is the pursuit of Motorola and now Z6w model adds wifi support and docking cradle.

We know ROKR Z6 is a pretty well music phone which is support wide variety multimedia format include WMA with very nice interface. here’s no 3G support, the camera is only a basic 2 megapixel unit and above all, consumers are mightily fed up of this type of design.

Motorola Z6w is not really bad cell phone but the company fail to do make it show up to the press and consumers. It will be available in Quarter 2 2008 but there’s no price available yet.
The Motorola W270 phone just passed through the FCC. The question now is what carrier, if any, will pick up the Motorola W270? Judging by the dual-band GSM, it could possibly be T-Mobile.
The Motorola W270 features a dual-band GSM (850/1900Mhz) radio, MP3 playback, microSD card slot, and FM radio with RDS.
So, not many features on the new Motorola W270, but it is a very thin 17mm, so that may be it’s one great appeal. Not much else is known about the new handset, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted if T-Mobile does pick this one up!
