Retro: Motorola 4500X

Dec 16, 2008 Filed under: Motorola

They don't make them like the Motorola 4500X any more.. well actually they do. We take a look at what portable phones were like 20 years ago.

Motorola announced today that the company has launched a comprehensive mobile commerce solution for financial and retail merchandising needs. The solution, consisting of an M-Wallet and back-end management platform, has been deployed by Union Mobile Pay (UMPay) in China.

mobile-money

The platform support personalize financial needs such as account inquiries, money transfers, bill payments, utility payments and e-ticketing on their mobile phones, which will eliminate the need to go to banks or carry bank cards. In addition to mobile banking, the platform also provides business-to-consumer (B2C) solutions for merchants that include merchant membership cards, electronic couponing and prepaid cards.

In addition to the end-user mobile solutions for banking and merchandising needs, Motorola’s mobile commerce offering also includes a back-end management platform. The back-end management platform, part of the Motorola’s Service Delivery Framework called GAMA (Global Application Management Architecture), is interoperable with back-office network elements for OSS/BSS for mobile network operators, financial institutions and merchants.

The M-Wallet solution with K-Java technology for UMPay’s Mobile Wallet is Motorola’s first M-Commerce platform launched in China. Mobile users only need to download and install the M-Wallet application on their mobile phones that support Java technology, and register their banking accounts to the mobile ...

No, it's not the toy from a cracker, we're serious: the Motorola W180, announced today, can be yours for a mere £2.89 on pay as you go from Carphone Warehouse. That's less than a Big Mac meal, but the W180 manages to offer a slim chassis, a colour screen and an FM radio.

You may remember a while back Motorola announced the F3, a similarly cheap mobile phone that used an electrophoretic display, which was more like a calculator screen than a mobile one -- and made it almost unusable.

The W810 is fortunately a little better kitted-out than its spartan cousin, boasting 40 ring tones, Crystal Talk technology (which supposedly makes phone calls sound better) and -- check this shizzle -- the ability to send text messages.

Review - Motorola Z3 RIZR - Part 1

Dec 9, 2008 Filed under: Motorola

The Motorola Z3 RIZR is another important model for this manufacturer, that features the same trend on many other Motorola cell phones that became famous in this sector. This model follows, when it comes to the design, the same style as other Motorola models that were very successful.

It’s been a long time coming, but Motorola’s struggling mobile phone manufacturing business has finally caught up with its finances. Review: Motorola A1200 - part 4

The other important feature is the Linux O.S., which is rare to find in smartphones that usually use Symbian. All in all, it’s a good cell phone with interesting features.
