You can’t deny that cellular phone manufacturers are now entering a new war - 8-megapixel camera phone war, by looking at how many 8-megapixels camera phones that have been released in September, and October. Before the LG-KC 790, we have seen the releases of LG KP500, Samsung Pixon M8800, and LG KC910.

The LG-KC780 is a slim slider phone at just 13.9 mm thick, but manages to include a large 2.4-inch widescreen LCD. The phone is designed to ensure that its myriad camera features are convenient and easy to use. A Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens ensures that the LG-KC780’s camera takes high quality photos that are sharp and clear.
“We found that most of the time people use the cameras on their mobile phones to take pictures of themselves, their families, friends and significant others,” said Dr. Skott Ahn, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company. “With this in mind, LG developed the LG-KC780 with a number of face-enhancing features to augment its high quality 8 megapixel camera.”

Already mentioned in their previous LG KC910 announcement, LG announced today the launch of its LG-KC780, a slim 8 megapixel camera phone with special features that make it ideal for shooting portraits. The LG-KC780 has about the same thickness as Samsung Pixon at around 13.9 mm (it was previously announced as 13.7mm by LG), comes with a 2.4-inch display screen and a slider form factor phone body. A Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens is used with a maximum of 8 megapixel resolution and 1600 ISO.
Several of the LG-KC780’s smart technologies focus around the most expressive part of a person, the face. Face Detection automatically finds and focuses on people’s faces to allow photographers to take clearer pictures. Part of this feature relies on LG’s Smile Detection technology, which can recognize the angle of people’s mouths and adjust focus for faces. With Smile Shot enabled the camera automatically triggers the shutter when it determines that the subject is smiling. And with Beauty Mode users can remove spots and imperfections on people’s faces, making sure the faces appear bright and clear in photos. LG Electronics today announced the launch of the KC780, a slim 8-megapixel camera phone with smart technologies to automatically finds and focuses on people's faces.
At just 13.9 mm thick, the KC780 manages to include a large 2.4-inch widescreen LCD. A Schneider-Kreuznach certified 8-megapixel lens takes high quality photos that are sharp and clear.
Face Detection automatically find people's faces for clearer pictures. Using Smile Detection technology, the KC780 recognizes the angle of people's mouths and adjust focus for faces.
LG's SmartLight setting automatically fixes lighting. It has adjustable light sensitivity up to ISO 1600.
Built-in Image Stabilizer ensures photos come out clear and sharp, even in shaky situations.
Other features include different shot modes. Smile Shot automatically triggers the shutter when it determines that the subject is smiling. Beauty Mode removes spots and imperfections on people's faces, making faces look bright and clear.

If you think touchscreen phones will leave you out of pocket, don't fear, because LG has come up with an affordable alternative in the form of the KP500
LG announce the touch screen phone KP500 on the market today which very keen on this type of phone. The main purpose behind the LG KP500 is the price - it is a bit cheaper than many other touch screen phones €229 (around £180).

It has impressive specifications with 3-inch 240 x 400 pixels like the LG Renoir, 3.2 megapixel camera, microSD expandable memory, a multimedia player and FM radio are the main ones.
However, to keep the price down the LG KP500 is not 3G, WiFi or GPS and the camera is not as good as the 5-megapixel and 8 megapixel units.

At only 89 grams in weight and 107×55x 12mm size, the LG KP500 is compact enough for a touch screen. LG KP500 say that should be available by the end of October in Europe in black, brown, gold and silver color combinations.

LG announced today a little more details about the Renoir which is on early mention it called LG KC910, but there is very little to add to the already mentioned technical specifications.

Renoir KC910 is a touchscreen phone with 3 inch 240 x 400 pixels widescreen display, an 8 megapixel camera, 3.5G wireless and GPS, more support. The unit has dual LED flash and auto, and can use the LG Renoir GPS receiver automatically geotag photos. The LG Renoir impressive images and video capture capabilities, and comprehensive support of media playback, including an FM radio and several video codecs pre installed.

The LG Renoir weighs 110 grams, which is quite good given the impressive feature. Measurements are 108 x 56 x 14mm, which is larger than a standard phone but still quite nice pocket. The 1000 mAh battery can provide up to 3.5 hours talktime or 14 days standby on 3G.

Other than the little info of LG KC980, LG has also revealed its plan on LG Renoir KC910 release plan. After making its initial debut in Europe in October of this year, Renoir will come out in Asia, Latin America and CIS in November, the Middle East and Africa in December and China in January of 2009. The 13.95 mm Renoir will be available in titan black and other color options depending on operator.

Today LG announced two new touch-based handsets, the high-end KC910 Renoir and the KP500. Both phones launch in European markets in October, followed by other regions in the first quarter of 2009.

LG Electronics today announced the launch of KP500, an affordable handset with touch screen technology.
Advanced handwriting recognition writes memos and text messages, and edit photo images by touching the screen with the pen tip. A QWERTY onscreen keyboard slides into view when the KP500 is held horizontally, and the auto rotating display always shifts images or documents for proper viewing.
Motion sensor games are played by turning, flipping, and shifting the handset for a more active and fun gaming experience.
The KP500 has the latest UI that allows users to attach a friend's photo for the speed dial feature, then page through the portraits and touch the friend to be called.
"We optimized the user interface to keep the tactile operations smooth and simple which is necessary when you're opening up a new technology to a wide group of people," said Skott Ahn, CEO of LG Electronics Mobile.
The slim KP500 is a GSM phone which can operate in four frequency bands and in 39 languages, giving it a far-reaching range.

Ericsson is selected by LG Electronics, to provide mobile broadband modules based on HSPA. LG Electronics notebooks and netbooks will include mobile broadband modules from Ericsson in Q3 2008.
