We’ve seen several watch phones but none that really delivered as far as being useful to consumers. Dick Tracy is still a pipe dream. Or is it?
Enter Korean manufacturer LG. Making very little fuss about their interest in the wrist watch phone, they have surprised everyone (this blogger at least) by introducing a Watch Phone at CES in Las Vegas. There is even Bluetooth connectivity in this yet unnamed wristwatch phone. Price unknown, but Engadget has a video demonstration of the user interface.

Sprint has clarified that the low supply of the LG Rumor is caused by its high sales volume, and that its recent removal from shelves is not the reason.
Just to remind you, Sprint has recently found a...

PhoneScoop reviews the Verizon LG Voyager: “The Verizon LG Voyager swings wide and nearly succeeds at hitting a complete jack-of-all-trades home run. A few things hold it back, though. The Verizon LG Voyager’s lack of full email integration hinders its messaging capabilities and using both the touch screen and standard D-pad for navigation can sometimes be jarring. Despite these shortcomings, the Voyager has a fun-to-use camera, enhanced web browsing and should serve well as the power user’s phone of choice.”

Sprint LG Rumor Firmware problems turned out to be false. Apparently, all that was wrong with the LG Rumor was that it was too popular. Sprint says they just couldn’t keep them on the store shelves.
EngadgetMobile has more: “Sprint says that low inventory levels are keeping LG Rumors out of retailers’ hands, but the carrier is working to kick up production a notch or two and get phones back into the system. Oh, and those issues we’ve heard about? Sprint claims they only hit a limited number of customers and there’s already a fix available.”
The LG Shine brings 3G to the table in a shiny aluminum package. It might catch your eye, but the rest of its feature list isn't as tempting.

Hey, remember that story I did about the LG Rumor Debug menu and its ability to wipe the entire phone? Yeah, it turns out that the problem did exist, but it was in a small number of devices, and has apparently already been fixed by Sprint.
I am sure there have been a few times you wished you could just wipe everything and start over, and on a PC where you have the OS software handy, the only other thing you need is time, but doing the same on a phone could mean an expensive paperweight. Well, apparently there is code in the LG Rumors sold by Sprint that allows a person access to the debug menu.
EzineArticles reviews the Tracfone LG 225: “The Tracfone LG 225 is the best quality phone that Tracfone has released so far. The Motorola W370 is a nice phone also but it does not come with a camera. I have found the camera feature handy even though I almost never send photos. I like taking pictures and having them on my phone. The LG 225 is the best value Tracfone because the doubler card is already installed.”

Sprint says that low inventory levels of the LG Rumor are due to its high sales volume, not because the device was removed from shelves because of a glitch. Sprint did find a minor technical error in some Rumor's, ...

Wirefly reviews the Alltel LG AX8600: “The LG AX8600 for Alltel makes a great argument to sell your MP3 player. The LG AX8600 features a stunning thin black design with soft-touch glowing external music controls, streaming or downloadable music, and the capability to transfer music to and from your PC (USB cable required). With streaming stereo music over Bluetooth support and 1.3 Megapixel camera/camcorder and tons more, the LG AX8600 stands up to any other mobile entertainment phone on the market.”

The Sprint LG Rumor has apparently stopped shipping to retail stores because of a major firmware problem. LG is hard at work fixing the problem and once the issue is resolved, existing users will have the option of an over-the-air download of the updated firmware.
EngadgetMobile has more: “The Sprint LG Rumor has a “known issue where certain sets of key presses during startup can trigger a complete erasure of the phone’s firmware.” Purportedly, the Sprint LG Rumor cannot be restored once triggered save for at the factory, but LG is hard at work creating an updated firmware that removes the code from being accessible.”
ZDNet reviews the LG CU515: “The LG CU515 is a media-centric model that offers a bevy of features including a 1.3-megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, a music player, Push to talk (PTT) compatibility, and support for AT&T’s 3G services. The LG CU515 is a decent phone by all accounts, and it delivers good call quality, but its media performance was variable. As such, we’d recommend the Motorola Razr2 V9 as a better alternative. At $249.99, it’s expensive if you pay full price, but you can get it for $89.99 with a two-year service contract.
The Bottom Line: The LG CU515 is great for making calls, but it’s not AT&T’s best cell phone for multimedia and wireless broadband use.”

Cnet reviews the Verizon LG VX5400: “The Verizon LG VX5400 has a few extra features that elevates it above pure basic phone status–a VGA camera, Bluetooth, and voice-command support, just to name a few. Not to mention, it has a great keypad and excellent call quality as well. It’s not the fanciest phone on the block, but for a basic camera phone, it’s not too shabby. The Verizon LG VX5400 is quite affordable at $29.99 after a two-year service agreement.
The good: The Verizon LG VX5400 is a basic camera phone with Bluetooth and voice-command support. It also has an easy-to-use keypad plus excellent call quality.
The bad: It has disappointing photo quality.
The bottom line: Though it is a basic camera phone, the Verizon LG VX5400’s well-designed keypad and great performance makes it a good choice for those who don’t need a cell phone with a lot of features.”

PhoneArena reviews the AT&T LG Shine: “How does the AT&T LG Shine…uh…..shine? Pretty well actually but it is apparent that this is meant to be a simple and stylish handset. It definitely looks great and feels solid both closed and opened, packs plenty of online applications to make use of its 3G capabilities, has a great camera, and strong performance to top it all off. Get past the AT&T LG Shine’s small keys and slightly odd layout and it really is a good handset.”

And surprisingly not due to it being on the French network. It’s called that because of the extreme amount of bright orange used on this slider phone.
