We hate to be the bearer of bad news, and you may have already heard or received the official HTC tweet, but the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer has decided not to bring the HTC Touch HD to the United States.

The tweet reads:

At least for the time being, HTC has “announced” that the company has no plan in producing a Touch HD with US 3G support. Posted in their twitter account, HTC says that although you would not see Touch HD in US so soon, but there are other “cool stuff” being prepared for US.

The Emblaze Mobile Ltd, Israel-based company unveiled the Emblaze Edelweiss, a touch screen phone. It seems that Emblaze Edelweiss phone in turn be quite an iPhone killer because it has a 3.5 inch TFT touch screen.

Also the Edelweiss is a 3G phone, comes with a GPS integrated in addition to being available in capacity of 8 and 16 GB more, it does well.

The scribes must be tired of reporting on infinite number of the iPhone “rivals”, but seems that the motive is not enough deployment of the iPhone lookalikes, but anyway he feels well to report that its screen is said to offer a resolution of 480 x 854 which put the high-definition HTC Touch and Sony XPERIA behind.

It’s really looks like a tough competition. Unfortunately, not much has been revealed about this phone, not even the prizes except for the above characteristics and initially target the Russian market in October.

Just as what they promised early last month, HTC has released an updated ROM with the new Windows Mobile 6.1 and couple of bug fixes. You will have to backup your data first as the software update will erase all the data stored in the phone.

• Bluetooth Headset: It may happen that you cannot hear anything when using Bluetooth headsets (Jabra JX10, Jabra BT500 or Samsung WEP 150) even when it has already sucessfully reconnected with the Touch Cruise.
• Default Onscreen Keyboard: It may happen that the device will not remember the last onscreen keyboard used. Before, the onscreen keyboard always defaults to the Touch Keyboard.
• Title Bar: It may happen that the Title Bar disappears when you go back to the Home screen.
• Camera Viewfinder: It may happen that the viewfinder is cut when you open a Powerpoint file and then tap Options.
• GPS Mode: It may happen that the display becomes “abnormal” after taking a picture in GPS mode and then going into Suspend/Resume mode.

The HTC Touch Viva is a slight update of the original HTC Touch, the main improvements of a software update, more memory and better battery life.

The touch screen on the Viva is a 2.8 inch 240 x 320 pixel touch panel. On the back is a fairly basic two-megapixel camera, and Viva Touch Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0 and microSD expandable memory. Internal Memory 128 MB is now (64 MB in original), and operating system is Windows Mobile 6.1 with the improved HTC TouchFLO interface running on top.

It is a GSM-only 3G device with no support, even if it does come with WiFi connectivity. When the original Touch is out, the lack of 3G was boring, but the range is also the HTC Touch 3G if you need support UMTS. The interior is a 210 MHz TI OMAP 820 processor, the same as the original Touch. This is not particularly fast, it must get more things.

HTC say that the 1100 mAh battery can now give Viva Touch up to 8 hours autonomy and 11 days in standby mode. If so, this is a significant improvement ...

The HTC Touch HD is a very impressive Windows Mobile device with a large 480 x 800 pixels screen, a camera of 5 megapixels, HSDPA and WiFi support more integrated GPS.

HD is the touch screen 3.8 inch WVGA touch that is certainly one of the best around, and it is certainly more impressive than the iPhone 3G 3.5 inch with 320 x 480 pixels panel. When used in the landscape (wide) mode, the Touch HD 800 pixel wide may make it more comfortable Web pages without having to descend the ladder.

It is one of only a very small number of handsets with such a display, the Nokia E90 was 800 pixels wide display for some time, and the new Sony Ericsson X1 is even closer to HD Touch. The Touch GPS support HD, so it can be used with Google Maps or another application. The large touch screen is ideal for satellite navigation, although you will probably want to add a mounting kit if the vehicle used in the car.

Powered by Windows Mobile, the T-Mobile Shadow is made by HTC as an affordable smartphone. It has a sleek design with a rounded edges. The slider phone will support T-Mobile MyFaves and Hotspot@ Home services. Not sure whether this device will support 3G connectivity (yeah, let’s hope).

According to BGR, this device  is slated for an October 15 release on T-Mobile and will likely be $149.99 with new contract and mail-in rebate.

The FCC recently approved the HTC’s Rose. I do not know much about this new phone, but according to Engadget Mobile, “The Rose had been a bit of a mystery to us when it first came out of the woodwork in some Bluetooth SIG documentation; it later turned out to be the very well-concealed S740. Unlike the ROSE100 model that we saw with the SIG, though, the FCC latched onto a ROSE110, giving us fleeting hope that there might be some North American 3G buried in this one.”

Seems High Tech Computer (HTC) doesn’t want to put all the eggs in one basket and will continue to simultaneously develop smartphones based on Windows Mobile and Android platform. HTC is Taiwanese-based phonemaker for Android’s first phone, T-Mobile G1.

Android and Windows Mobile handsets can complement each other in the market, offering consumers and telecom service providers more choice, according to John Wang, CMO, High Tech Computer (HTC), who added in saying the company will continue to simultaneously develop smartphones based on the two platforms

Windows Mobile and Android handsets form separate ecosystems with their own merits and advantages, Wang explained. The former provide users with high performance, interoperability and a large library of applications, while the later give handset design companies and developers more flexibility, he detailed.

Of course, Asia will patiently wait for the Android-powered phones. I am glad to obtain the news from Taiwan News, saying that Taiwan’s Chunghwa Telecom–country’s largest operator–is about to sell Android-based Gphone–made by HTC.

Chunghwa Telecom will import iPhone and GPhone, Google Company’s new product in the fourth season and cooperate with HTC Corporation to sell GPhone, which needs no keyboard because Taiwan people are not using.

So far, there is no official announcement from Chunghwa about this, however I will keep you updated!

G1 was introduced officially in the US today and it made headlines everywhere. Some cool features are shown below. It will be available through T-Mobile next month. For $179 (and 2-year contract) it is a sweet deal. As I said before this year has been great for smart phone consumers with more choices than ever. Blackberry touch phone is next in line. The new phone powered by Google, called “G1″, is ready to showdown against at least two camps in the U.S market —the Apple iPhone and the RIM BlackBerry. It will be launched in New York tomorrow afternoon, and will be available in the US next month and then in British stores by November.

What lesson can be learned from this long-awaited smart phone launch? Can it be following the success of iPhone 3G launch? Or even creating another benchmark, break-through?

Can’t imagine the extra size of Touch HD when compare to HTC Touch Diamond? CNet Asia has got a nice side by side comparison photo on the 3 HTC Touch series. Obviously because of the WVGA resolution, the Touch HD is wider and bigger. Even that I am sure many of you can’t resist the beauty of higher resolution.

On the thickness comparison, the HTC Touch HD (115 x 62.8 x 12 mm ) about the same as the same as HTC Touch Diamond (102 x 51 x 11.5 mm). The Touch Pro is much thicker due to the additional QWERTY keyboard.

The TouchFLO 3D on the Touch HD is very smooth, the video also did a website display comparison between the Omnia, Touch HD and iPhone, showing you the difference with a 800 x 480 WVGA display screen (landscape mode). Simiar to Touch Diamond, the HTC Touch HD do not have a camera button at the side. Instead, there is a on screen camera button for you to capture the photo.
