[Continue reading BlackBerry 8220 Pearl Avaiable at Future Shop, Coming Soon on Rogers]Apparently RIM is going full speed with touch screen phones. BGR has posted about the new BlackBerry that is reported to make an appearance at WES 2009 (Wireless Enterprise Symposium, May 2009): a US bound HSDPA Storm and a touchscreen BlackBerry with a full QWERTY keyboard!

The first, yeah, might be least surprising, would be a new US-spec HSDPA Storm.

Information Week added, being able to use the excellent Bold keyboard for messages while still having a touch-screen for quick-launching apps would be a dream.
The handset, according to BlackBerryNews, is in the alpha stages right now. Its internal name is “Magnum.” Obviously, no pricing is available at this time.
I certainly am excited about this, but when it comes to the launch dates, I became more sceptic due to RIM’s track records. “RIM takes something like forever to release anything these days, ...
The storm RIM BlackBerry 9500 is the first touchscreen BlackBerry device, incorporating many features found in the BlackBerry Bold 9000 with a brand new display.

BlackBerry devices are all about messaging, and yet there is no physical keyboard on the 9500. RIM approach is to use a keyboard on the screen, but they skillfully two distinct versions - a virtual SureType keyboard (like the BlackBerry Pearl) is used in portrait (tall) mode, with a larger QWERTY keyboard to the use in landscape (wide) mode.
The touch panel is clearly the most interesting on the BlackBerry Storm. It is a 3.25 inch with 480 x 360 pixels panel that apparently gives users the feeling of pressing a real key, which lights up.

The 9500 storm also a high-GPS receiver and navigation function. GPS can also be used to automatically geotag photos taken with the camera of 9500, which is 3.2 megapixels with autofocus and flash.

How Microsoft’s Windows Mobile strategy to fight against Apple’s iPhone and the new comer Google’s Android phones? “Microsoft could be preparing a bid for BlackBerry maker, Research In Motion,” as PC Pro wrote recently.

Since Microsoft has a substantial amount of cash on its balance sheet ($23 billion), with RIM currently valued at around $34 billion, the acquisition would be financially viable.
RIM’s shares have practically fallen off a cliff in recent months, plunging from a 52-week high of $150 to today’s price of around $68.
That leaves the company vulnerable to a takeover from a cash-rich suitor such as Microsoft, according to analysts.
Microsoft projected in 2008 that shipments of devices with Windows Mobile will increase from 11 million to 20 million units, but in fact, market only absorbing 18 million licenses, due to the delayed launch of certain smart-phones.
It would be weird to see Windows Mobile appearing on a BlackBerry, but business has it own logic, right?
