RIM BlackBerry Storm
(Credit: RIM)Ever since the RIM BlackBerry Storm was introduced in early October, I've received a ton of questions about the smartphone. A majority of the queries have been about availability and pricing, but there have been some more specific questions about features, competitor comparisons, and whether it will come to other carriers.
Given all the interest in the BlackBerry Storm, I decided to round up some of the most frequently asked questions about the first touch-screen BlackBerry and share them with you in this Ask the Editors post. I've tried to answer them to the best of my ability, but please realize there are just some things I can't completely answer, whether it's because the companies aren't talking (trust me, I'm trying) or because I haven't had any real hands-on time with the device. Still, I wanted to get as much information as I could out there. Also, if you have any questions that weren't answered here, post them in the comment section below and I'll try to get them all.
Q: When will the BlackBerry Storm be available and for how much?
A: Ahh, the million-dollar question. I talked ...

Too good to be true? Cited Fortune’s Techland blog, in connecting with Vodafone’s recent announcement that they would fully subsidize the Blackberry Storm, Gizmodo reported that Verizon might be considering similar low cost options to compete against the iPhone.
While some inside sources claimed Verizon may go as far as to make the phone free with a two-year contract, other anonymous blabbermouths from the Verizon camp shot that notion down.
Most analysts believe the Storm will be equally priced to the 8 GB iPhone at the very least, but its realistic to see it at a $99 or $150 price point. The goal is to move some serious units during the holiday season, but for that to happen, Verizon needs to actually release the Storm
Let’s wait and see.

Yay! It’s a good news for BlackBerry owners: get your A&T free hot-spots across the country: in the airports, Barnes and Noble bookstores, McDonald’s, and Starbucks! Well, it’s followed the previous announcement for iPhone users the other day.
AT&T informed us that BlackBerry access to the WiFi hotspots would begin with the BlackBerry Bold, which is set to be available on Tuesday, November 4th. Shortly following that, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and BlackBerry 8820 will also gain free WiFi access. AT&T would not comment on the possibility of free WiFi service being extended to its other smartphones, such as the AT&T Tilt.

(Credit: Ina Fried/CNET News )HOLLYWOOD, Calif.--The BlackBerry Storm got its chance to be a child star Wednesday as Research In Motion threw it a coming-out party at the legendary Avalon Hollywood club.
There was the full runway action, as paparazzi photographed celebrities going down the red carpet on their way into the club. As I arrived, a couple of cast members from the new 90210 show were making their way down the carpet. (Perhaps my favorite line of the evening was one of the show's cast members saying she hadn't actually seen the original show, but had "seen pictures" of the show's stars).

How do you like that? Some sources report that the fpopular BlackBerry Bold actually costs just $169.41 to manufacture. Cheap, you say? And now compare this figure with the subsidized price of US$337 that poor Canadians have to pay for the handset. That's what I call a daylight robbery!
