Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130Cnet reviews the Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130: “The Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130 hasn’t changed much from the original model, but that’s not a bad thing since we’re fans of the Pearl’s overall look. However, there are some slight tweaks.

Thankfully, the Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130 still keeps a slim profile, measuring a slight 4.2 inches long by 1.9 inches wide by 0.5 inch deep and weighing 3.4 ounces. You’ll have no problem slipping this handset into your pants pocket, and it feels comfortable and natural to hold during phone calls. The silver chassis may seem ordinary to some, but we think it’s sleek and attractive.

The good: The Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130 keeps the same sleek design of its predecessor but adds built-in GPS, EV-DO support, and video-recording capabilities. The smartphone’s Web browser is also improved, and it has a 2-megapixel camera. The device’s messaging functions remain strong.

The bad: The SureType keyboard takes some acclimation and call quality could be slightly better.

The bottom line: The Verizon Wireless Pearl 8130 improves on an already impressive smartphone with the addition of GPS, video recording, and 3G support.”

BlackBerry 9000 Specs And Photo

Dec 2, 2007 Filed under: BlackBerry

BlackBerry 9000The BlackBerry 9000 is all but officially outed. New rumors of the BlackBerry 9000’s specs and a photo (a bit blurry though) have just been leaked.

SlashPhone has more on the specs: “Lets start with the screen which is either 480×320 or the other way around 320×480, no word whether it will be a touchscreen, or what will happen to the keyboard with that large of a screen. The BlackBerry 9000 is rumored to have a gig of on board storage, and an Intel XScale PXA270 processor running at 624MHz, which is a bit up from the 620MHz ARM processor in the iPhone.

Furthermore, the BlackBerry 9000 is said to have GPS and WiFi, as well as GSM and 3G via HSDPA. The camera is still sitting at the rumored 2 megapixels, but there is supposedly talk of a 3.2MP cam by the time this thing launches.”

So the BGR has some unconfirmed specs for the potential new RIM device known as the BlackBerry 9000 series. They say that one of the devices in that series will have at least these specs, but probably more.

Yes, let say good bye to GPS for upcoming BlackBerry Pearl 8120 that has just been approved by the FC. This device will not come with GPS connectivity, but dont worry because wifi still available that will make you always connected to internet wherever there is a hotspot. You can, however, connect a Bluetooth GPS receiver to the 8120 if you happen to need directions. The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is tipped to be available on AT&T's network way before T-Mobile

BlackBerry 9000 touchscreenBoy Genius Report has the early specs of RIMs touch screen iPhone iller. The BlackBerry 9000 will be using the 624MHz Intel XScale PXA270, which is 24MHz faster than the iPhone’s processor and HSDPA connectivity. The screen will have 480 x 320 pixels and 1GB of onboard memory. Besides 3.5G HSDPA, the BlackBerry 9000 will have WiFi connectivity and GPS.

The specs above is not much more specific than what we already have from two months ago, but new updates like this assures us that a touch screen BlackBerry isn’t all just rumor.

Recently, I took the plunge on the new iPhone. It seems like the hottest new gadget out, so I figured "Why not?". I've been a heavy Blackberry user at work, but my new iPhone simply eclipses the functionality of any Blackberry by a factor of 1000, so I'd be stupid not to switch. I'd like to share my awesome adventure...

Orange UK and Research In Motion (RIM) announced the launch of two new Wi-Fi-enabled BlackBerry smartphones to customers in the UK - the BlackBerry Curve 8320 and the BlackBerry Pearl 8120.

AT&T Tilt Review - LaptopMag

Nov 28, 2007 Filed under: BlackBerry

AT&T TiltLaptopMag reviews the AT&T Tilt: “The AT&T Tilt performed well. Call quality was clear, and calls placed during testing connected quickly and easily. Battery life is rated for 4.5 days of talk time or 8.3 days of standby. We left a fully charged AT&T Tilt on over a long weekend, and when we returned, the unit still had three out of four bars of battery life. We were then able to do a good deal of surfing, checking e-mail, and listening to music before having to power back up.

The AT&T Tilt and the new BlackBerry 8820 both have a lot going for them, but users deciding between the two should take a few things into consideration. The AT&T Tilt is for those who like their smart phones packed to the gills with multimedia bells and whistles and who need the ability to view and edit Office attachments out of the box. The 8820 is for those looking for a sleeker device that’s easy to use, although it doesn’t have 3G. Given that the AT&T Tilt has BlackBerry’s push e-mail functionality, too, this device is a compelling option.”

BlackBerry Pearl 8120

Our friends at FCC published documents about the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 on FCC website. According to the leaked source, the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 supports GSM networks (850/900/1800/1900MHz), but not CDMA networks (Sorry for Verizon Wireless and Sprint PCs users). Besides that, the best selling point of the 8120 phone is going to be its UMA (Unlicensed Mobile Access) technology that allows you to seamlessly transfer a call between typical cellular networks and a WiFi network.

Features and specifications of the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 include a built-in GPS navigation system , Wi-Fi support, 2- megapixel digital camera, 3.5mm audio jack, and microSD card slot

BlackBerry Pearl 8120The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 has shown up on the FCC’s website. The new BlackBerry Pearl 8120 will be a variation of the current model, but will add a key feature - Wi-Fi.

EngadgetMobile has more: “The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 adds WiFi — a boon for UMA, and likely for T-Mobile’s Hotspot @Home — and also adds a number of improvements seen in the CDMA BlackBerry Pearl that’s been floating around as of late, like a 3.5mm headphone jack and external microSD slot.”

BlackBerry RIm logoWe’ve reported about the BlackBerry 9000, which is supposed to be a touchscreen device that will compete with the Apple iPhone, and haven’t heard much since. There’s still no word from RIM but Carmi Levy, an analyst at AR Communications Inc., says it’s the logical next step for the BlackBerry: a consumer oriented, instead of enterprise-oriented phone. “The 9000 is supposed to be a touch-screen device, very similar in form factor to the iPhone,” Levy says. “Which means that it is not an enterprise-friendly device.

The most likely debut of the touchscreen BlackBerry would be Q1 2008, according to Levy. RIM will keep churning 8000 series BlackBerries because business will still need business phones. These products are likely to be improved incrementally, adding 3G or WiFi or both.
