3G Apple iPhone Review - PhoneArena

3G Apple iPhone WhitePhoneArena reviews the 3G Apple iPhone: “The 3G Apple iPhone is a multimedia powerhouse, with a gorgeous design and an interface that remains the standard. If you don’t already own one, the iPhone 3G is well worth the $200-300 it will set you back, but what about if you do already have one? Honestly, we’d have a hard time recommending it, unless you really needed 3G or GPS. Apple’s fundamental business mistake here is that the iPhone 2.0 software is available to current iPhone owners, meaning they get just about every benefit of the new device without having to shell out a few hundred dollars. Coupled with AT&T’s poor 3G coverage and the issues users have been running into, the 3G Apple iPhone just isn’t a compelling upgrade. Furthermore, manufacturers have had a year to catch up to Apple and some are doing a pretty good job.

The original iPhone is still an amazing phone, and can utilize the benefits of the new 2.0 software. When it comes down to it, the new 3G Apple iPhone simply plays catch-up with other devices that have been running 3G and GPS for years. This ...

One Million iPhones Already?

Jul 15, 2008 Filed under: Apple

It actually isn't that surprising to hear the iPhone sold so well this past weekend as there has been months of hype and moreover the distribution of the phones worldwide is greater than ever. Still -- you have to give Apple credit and I do believe that with the wealth of new applications out for the phone it will become very difficult to compete with this device. If Apple comes out with a full line of phones with keyboards, I believe they will make serious inroads against RIM, Nokia and others

It hardly seems like a year since the first-gen iPhone stormed the cellphone market, grabbing Apple a coveted spot in the top ranks of handset manufacturers and redefining the sort of usability people could expect from a touchscreen device. Now, however, the iPhone gets its first significant upgrade; you’d have to have been hiding under a rock to have missed the news that Apple have added both 3G and GPS to the handset - if you were, check out our WWDC 2008 keynote coverage - as well as dropping the entry price to just $199. The iPhone 3G launched this morning, and we were there bright and early to cover the event of a new cellphone.

After our original post on MobileMe we came in for some criticism for our rather pro-Apple attitude. Our initial thoughts were that Apple had shown a compelling set of products, that showed some nice design touches and boasted strong integration with their hardware, in particular the iPhone. Well today the MobileMe service is finally stable enough for us to have a play with, so we took another look at Apple’s offerings.  The problems that Apple have had over the last few days with the launch
