Apple Cell Phone Reviews

According to Gizmodo, a reliable source has told them that the second-generation of iPhone will be announced at WWDC next month June 6th. Immediate after the announcement, your local telco will start selling the new iPhone in different schedule.

Orange has announced to bring the iPhone to Orange customers in Austria, Belgium, the Dominican Republic, Egypt, Jordan, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Switzerland and Orange’s African markets. Singtel and its associates have announced to bring iPhone to Singapore, India, the Philippines and Australia. Early this month Vodafone also revealed its plan to offer iPhone in Australia, the Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, Italy, India, Portugal, New Zealand, South Africa and Turkey.

It is not sure that how the telco will tie a contract with the iPhone but at least you might see an iPhone without firmware lock because telco is not allowed to sell firmware locked phone in Singapore.

3G Apple iPhone Coming June 9th

May 22, 2008 Filed under: Apple

3G Apple iPhoneThe 3G Apple iPhone is coming June 9th. At least that’s what Gizmodo is claiming. We all knew the 3G Apple iPhone was scheduled to arrive in the very near future (with AT&T store workers not being able to take off work next month and all), so this date would make sense. A person very, very close to the 3G Apple iPhone told them that it’s supposed to be announced at this years WWDC Keynote, which is on June 9th.

So, if the 3G Apple iPhone is something you’d be interested in, don’t go buying those cheap refurbished iPhones quite yet. With 3G, you should have a speedier handset, which also get’s a design update among other things.

Apple iPhone Confirmed for June 9?

May 20, 2008 Filed under: Apple

3G iPhone June

Gizmodo has it on good authority that June 9 is the date of 3G iPhone’s release. After WWDC, Apple will beging selling the new iPhone to U.S. customers. Europe will not wait too long this time around. Apple may also try to sell iPhones in a different way. We don’t know how different it is going to be but fixed prices may be a thing of the past for iPhones. Wireless carriers with the exclusive contracts can offer cheaper iPhones to switchers and other incentives used to great effect with other phone models can now be used to the iPhoe.

AT&T Black Apple iPhone

May 13, 2008 Filed under: Apple

AT&T Apple iPhone BlackAT&T recently posted a Black Apple iPhone on their website. The “iPhone Black” model was available along with the regular iPhone model. Rumor has it that this is the new 3G iPhone, although AT&T has said the “iPhone Black” was just a placeholder name for one of their original models.

The AT&T Black Apple iPhone spotted on the website is also speculated to be the new 3G iPhone because of some good intel that the new handset will have a glossy black finish. So, we’re just guessing that AT&T meant to say that this new “iPhone Black” is a placeholder for the 3G iPhone Black. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Free WiFi For AT&T Apple iPhone

An AT&T spokesperson told the New York Times that the free WiFi for the AT&T Apple iPhone is briefly available, and was even mentioned on their website, but that it was just a mistake.

However, he went on to say that the company has been planning free WiFi for all WiFi-enabled smartphones since the beginning. So, I guess this means it was a mistake for now - but soon it won’t be. At least we know free WiFi for the AT&T Apple iPhone will be available soon, and this time to stay.

Apple Goes After iPhone Clone Retailer

Apple Sues HiPhone Retailer

Apple is finally doing something about iPhone clones starting with a small time retailer of HiPhones in Europe. The notice, in Italian, sent to an individual selling HiPhones on eBay and on a land-based store indicates an amount of 25,000 euros (apparently per phone) as penalty and, in addition, $15,000 euros in lawyer fees.

It’s one small step to keep iPhone’s original design (?) the sole property of Apple. Interestingly, Apple also demanded the destruction of all unsold phones and proof of this action be sent to them.

Unvailable iPhone

Go the the Apple iPhone page and you will find the picture above glaring at you. Doesn’t really glare, just sort of brightens up slowly until you realize that Apple does not have a single iPhone available at the moment. What? No more iPhone. Sure, you may still find one at an AT&T store (we haven’t checked) but as far as Apple is concerned, there is no more iPhone in stock.

Apple has learned his lesson from the iPhone price cut September of last year that genuinely pissed off a lot of people. What this means is that the 3G version of the iPhone will be be sold at a similar price point as the current iPhone, or, at least, this is what I think.

3G Apple iPhone Release Date - June?

May 7, 2008 Filed under: Apple

3G Apple iPhone Photo LeakThe 3G Apple iPhone release date looks like it may be in June or early July. We know for sure the 3G Apple iPhone is coming, so the big question now is - when. According to a new memo sent out to AT&T employees, they are not to take any vacations between June 15th and July 12th. The memo goes on to say that the reason for this is ”an exciting Summer Promotional Launch”.

The 3G Apple iPhone release date could very well by on June 29th, which is exactly the 1 year anniversary of the original release date. There has also been plenty of 3G Apple iPhone photos floating around the Internet as well (of course, most of them are fake - but some could be real as well). Hopefully we’ll see this new phone before the summer is over.

AT&T is preparing cut the price of the 3G iPhone by as much as $200, bringing the price of the 8GB memory 3G model down to $199 for customers who agree to sign a two-year contract. The $200 rebate or subsidy would be limited to AT&T customers and not available through Apple's stores.

Average iPhone users have around double the typical U.S. monthly spend, making it easier for AT&T to finance higher subsidies. If the handset is sold with a subsidy, then the activation process will need to be carried out in the retail store. A cash-back model would allow Apple to continue its current policy of selling the phone without managing the activation process itself.
